  • Anyone have extra fish?

Hi, I gave my 30 gallon tank to my niece, and I just bought a 90 gallon tank.
We both now need fish.  I bought some mollies and a few guppies for my niece but she wants it filled with more guppies.

I think I want cichlids in mine and am planning on getting some yellow labs.
I've also have 8 Malawi Mbuna  fry which I got from mandem last month.  There about 1/2 inch now and wont be going into the tank until they get a little bigger.

If anyone has fish or fry that they'd like to get rid of cheap or for free  I need lots of new residents.

Also.. I am thinking of setting up a 10 gallon tank for neon type tetra's.. Does anyone know where I can get these cheap.

    Other things I need.

    1.  Low maintainace plants.  The kind that can survive on low light.

    2. black sand or black gravel (blue would also work)  ... Does anyone know of a place in nw houston where they sell the sandblasting sand... also what type is fish safe.

    3.  Heater

    4. Tank filters.   I have a wimpy one but I'll need something more powerful or multiple filters.  Will eventually get a canister filter but don't think I'll have the money for a while

    5. anything else you think I'll need..... I know I'm probably overlooking something.

    Thanks.

I'm willing to pay for them, but free would be good.  I just don't want to pay retail prices. With everything that I need it would get very expensive quickly. I also have some computer equiptment that I can trade.

I don't know where copperfield is.  CF and Fishlady can tell you my place isn't really hard to find.  I could give you assorted fry.  I have some hybrid and mystery peacocks, and jack dempsey fry who will all soon get too big for the 45g I have like a 100 of the little boogers in lol.  Heck, you bring me some frozen bloodworms and we would call it even.  This offer is for at least 15 fry.  Please do not ask for just one type....at this time they are all together and it's just an offer....

                Re: Anyone have extra fish?

I've got some guppy juvies I could part with.  They are pretty much all females.  I have no idea why there is only one male for every 9 females born.  I would be willing to get rid of any of the female guppies I have that are big enough to not get eaten.  Maybe a dozen or more total right now.
I am probably going to be up on the NW side this weekend if you are interested PM me.

                  Re: Anyone have extra fish?

wow thanks guys.  I need to let the tank cycle another day or so and then I'll be ready to add the fish.   I'll pm you guys later tonite.

This site is getting really addictive.  A friend of mine may have just talked me into trading for one of his tanks.  If it goes through I may have aquired my ideal size.  125 gallon.  I will be very greatful to all of you for the fish.

                  Thanks

                    Re: Anyone have extra fish?

Now is a great time to spend Saturday at a State park where you can gather the native fishes without a licence.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

What water parameters are you keeping? Sounds like a higher ph..I have loads of Krib fry but they have been raised in ph under 7.0 so they would need some acclimation before adding to a higher ph tank.  If you are still interested let me know.

We have lots of black convicts...assorted sizes if you are interested.  And we also have black sand that we'll give you if you want to come pick it up.  It's the black sand we took out of our 150 and replaced with regular sand.  We have LOTS of it too.  LOL  You'll probably want to give it a good rinse since it's been sitting in bags for a little while.  Let me know if you are interested.

Scratch the convict offer...unless you want adult convicts...my husband is going to meet me at the LFS after work to turn them over.  Or you could wait about 5 minutes and we'll have more convict fry.

BUT we still have the black sand if you want it!

                            Re: Anyone have extra fish?

Sorry guys, I wasn't able to get online for the last couple of days.   I did get another 125 gallon tank and spent the last 2 days building a stand for it.  I'll post a pic of it tomorrow to see what you guys think of it and If you can come up with some mods that I should make.

I got some guppy fry from djmatthewblack and there doing well in my nieces mostly guppy community tank.
It now has 3 adult guppies.. one female, two males and 7 large fry, one gold gourami.

I transfered  the water from my 90 gallon tank to the 125 gallon and am now ready to get the fish.   I'll pm all who have offered.

As for Kribs.  I don't really know much about them.  I was thinking of doing a mixed cichlid theme with the 125 but don't know if kribs can coexist.  I don't have any gravel yet but do have 3 holey rocks and some cool looking green slate.     I need to get the 90 gallon going but don't really know what I should put in it.

                            Any suggestions?

I also got a 10 gallon tank when I picked up the 125 that I'm thinking of putting red shrimp in.  Can I also keep fish in the tank.  If so, what type?

Thanks for all the help and advice,
                            Riaz

The shrimp tank can have any fish that has an extremely small mouth and not aggressive.....that's a small amount of fish though cause most everything I have tried keeping with them has either tried or has eaten them.
