Re: F1 --- Tropheus SP. RED Moliro Fry for Sale

I started with 6 (3/4"-1") fry and then a month or so later added 10 juveniles (2-3"). Then after that added the petro. Everyone is doing great in there, it's actually pretty peaceful. There's one brightly colored male out of the chimba's, but he still gets owned by the petro. I plan to add the new petros in with this group once they come in.

To each it's own but me personally I would not rec. it to anyone I know since there is the possibility of turning someone against Tropheus and putting another person out there that tells everyone Trophs are the instant death fish if any little thing goes wrong. Sometimes things are rec. for a reason...

Maybe we should get out of Khrister's ad.

I hope by sharing all this with the other readers, we maybe able to help khrister move some or all of his/her fry .... :)

I would like to just add one more thing to this thread that may help those who are thinking of maybe getting into tropheus, from my modest experience level, all I can say is this, do your research on them first, talk to others who keep them, and if and when you do bring home a colony of them.....BE CONSISTANT if not RELIGIOUS with your water changes.

Feed them moderately, 3 times a day, and give them the attention they deserve, they will reward your efforts in due time.

My personal opinon is that Tropheus always do better in atleast a group of 12 for all the moorii types.

Minimum Tank size I would recomned, is a 75 gallon and 18 fish.

I have used a 55 gallon for a number of years, but it takes more work to handle the agression, and more water changes are needed to keep it cleaner.  On the 55 gallon, I would not do more than 12-14 fish.

Duboisi, do really well in small groups as long as only 1 is male.  Otherwise, need atleast 8 fish to handle a second male.  Otherwise you will start to loose 1 at a time, as the alpha picks off the omega's until his is the only male.

          Take care,

          Geoff
