Well, I included my phone number  in the reply and coincidentally got a spam text message on my phone the next day (which I never get)... not concrete proof of a scam but interesting...

The only thing about spammers harvesting emails, is that they would have done it with something that a million people would have wanted.. a tank 200 gal (actually looks like a 7ft 210gal tank would not have chosen such a low target audience as a tank..  but I suppose anything is possible.

I don't know... maybe picking a niche item a few people would definitely want to jump on might work better than something a little broader like a couch that  a few people might already be legitimately be giving away on craigslist.... I don't know, just speculation on my part. I'm still assuming that this was a scam, but who knows? Either way, this generated a good conversation and made a couple of us slightly wiser.

Okay, apparently the fish tank is gone. I think he assumed people would just show up and whomever was first got to have it without confirming whether it was still available or an appropriate time or other essential details needed to make arrangements. So anybody here lucky enough to make off with it? Wanna sell it?

how do you know it was gone?  Did they respond to you?  All I am seeing in the link is that it was flagged for removal not that it is gone.

If you dont know for sure I may drive over there tonight.
