Any local fish store should have one. They're about $1-5 for common plecos and $5-10 for bristlenose plecos depending on size. I believe Petsmart/Petco carry both. There's also Otocinclus catfish which are algae eaters and workhorses at that! They're usually $1-3, but they're really small.
Honestly, I wouldn't get another pleco. They'll just become food for the eel again and you'll be back wanting to buy more plecos. It's just money down the drain. The reason for algae to appear in a tank is excessive light or nutrients (usually in the form of fish waste, over feeding, etc). Try cutting back how long your lights are on and reduce feeding. That way your algae goes away and you don't have to waste money constantly buying plecos (which seem to create more waste than eating algae).
If you really insist on getting another pleco and you don't want to pay, you can catch them out of our bayous. You'll be doing the city and us a favor. Plus they'll be a good 6"+, a good enough size that might not become food for your eel.

Great advice but I kind of messed up by placing my tank near a window so only one side is getting algae where did you see it for 1-3$? I paid like 6-8 for mine. It also ate my blue lobster, so I threw a crawfish in there for him to eat as soon as that's gone I'll throw another crawfish in?
also, does Otocinclus catfish do well with cichlids?Last edited by Dainese954; 03-28-2013, 01:40 AM.

Petsmart has a sale on plecos. $1 each I believe, but they're small. Basically food for your eel. O-cats (otocinclus) do not do well with cichlids and will easily become a meal as they max out at about 2" and they're only about half an inch wide.
You can put a background sheet or some kind of cloth on the side of the tank that's getting the sunlight.
