Aquashelle, what size do you actually need for a 50 gallon tank? I'm wondering if a 36" light is better?

Semper wants the 48" as well so I am hoping to divide these free things fairly when possible.

Hey, let's not give up so fast. That hood that I think goes on a 30 should also fit a 50, check the width and length. Measure the outside edge of the rim and the inside edge. Some hoods actually sit on that lip on the inside edge. I'll need to look carefully at the hood and see, but I think I measured 35.5" x 11" for the hood.

If your tank is actually a 58 then it will be more than 11" front to back, I can't recall that size but I had a tank that size once and it was maybe 15". Even so, you could get a glass top and still use the strip from the $5 hood I have.

Thanks for that good info. So, the hood I have is for a 30 gallon as I suspected, and you could use the strip from it on a glass top if you wanted to.

Re: FS, FF; Small Tanks, stands, hoods, lights

Wow, there is a lot more interest in this stuff than I expected. I will tell you that these things are not cleaned up, if I'd spent the time cleaning I could have charged more. I will test anything electrical to be sure it works so you don't waste a trip but you need to phone me first. My phone is 281-580-4518. Let me know you are coming.

I guess I need to set up some rules. Since everything is so cheap or free, I am not going to hold it for anyone if it means turning down someone else. I've got a lot of PMs and I will try to add that info here so at least folks know if others are interested. So, if you are coming to get something, I will post it here when I know for sure you are coming.

For those of you that are dropping by, if you let me know about any other things you might be looking for, I'll dig into the other storage areas to see what I can offer to you, so you don't waste a trip. I know there are assorted heaters, air pumps, plastic/silk plants, fake rocks, holey rocks, small nets, gravel vacs.... it is rather overwhelming at this point. (Frankly that is why it is so cheap, I got so hot in the attic trying to sort it out I got pretty aggrivated at it all). I am keeping the best for myself, so you won't see the old green Jaeger heater or any gems like that.

At this point, mrairportejunke is interested in the gravel and pond filter stuff as is katypond, Semper wants the 48" strip, Algarciajr wants the small filters, penguins and whispers and Edward Krueger also wants the whispers as well as the flourite and has offered to take all the free stuff though I'd prefer to spread it around some.

Normally, I'd say pay me to hold it but this stuff is so cheap and I am not going to take the trouble to take photos and post all that stuff, at these prices it is not worth the effort but to take money sight-unseen is not fair so the best I can do is to keep the interested parties all informed about who wants what and when they expect to come by. So, I'm trying to be as fair as possible, without making myself crazy.

these are all small types, not suitable for outdoors if that is your interest. Most are of the cheaper sorts, a few are larger, none are huge. I have not really looked at that bag much, I think there are a few in the cabinet as well that I ought to part with, I have only 2 tanks now and I have sponge filters and air pumps for backups should I break a canister filter.

Thank you for the 10G hospital tank complete w/ filter, top, light and heater!  Everyone else, Ann has a bunch of stuff that can be used to piece together a new tank or add to existing set ups.  I saw heaters, air pumps, HOB filters, UG filter plates, magazines on planted tanks and ponds, pond filter stuff, lighting, tubing, heaters, etc.  Well worth the trip and the low prices!
