Fish & Pets likely has the Cherax species - originates from Austrailia and gets up to 12" (Cherax Quadricarinatus) aka "Blue Lobster" or "Red Claw").   They live 5 years or more on average.  Males develop a red mark on their claw at about 4", this spot never hardens like the rest of the shell (that's where the term "Red Claw" came from for these).  Color varies from pale greyish blue to a more intense darker blue.  They are bred in Austrailia as a food source - they eat them there the way we gobble up the red Louisiana crays (which are Procambarus Clarkii), but they probably don't use enough cayenne pepper  :).  Compare what F&P has with the pics at the link at the bottom of this post so you know what you're getting.

What Raul has to offer is Procambarus Alleni.  This is a Florida cray typically known as an "Electric Blue" crayfish that grows up to about 6".  Females stay a bit smaller.  It lacks a gene which is why they're blue - and they're VERY blue - many people think they're dyed, but they're not.  Raul's crays, are 4th generation tankbred (I bred the parents of his Breeder pair in my tanks).  Future generations retain the blue coloration.  Lifespan of these are roughly 2-3 years.  More easily bred than the Quads and a brighter blue.  Will interbreed with Clarkii crays.

A real find would be an Electric Blue Dragon - a Procambarus Alleni with RED eyes!  Available in Canada but prohibited from import into the US.  More info on them here:  http://www.aqua-terra-vita.com/Artic...shArticle.html
