I would like to buy a pleco for my tank, it is 40 gallons. I'm in the cy-fair area. I have 3 yellow labs, 1 male about 4 inches and 2 females about 3 inches, 1 male convict, 3 females, 2 fish that I don't know what they are. They are shaped like the labs and are a bluish lavender color with dark stipes.

Re: WTB Pleco for 40 gallon w/ cichlids and a hob filter
Any specific type?
Do you want to get it from a certain location?
...BN's make good tankmates for most cichlids...Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

As far as what type of hob filter I know I do not want a bio wheel. I had a whisper filter long ago and liked it so maybe something like that. I am having issues with brown sheet-like algae and have no pleco. I'm doing several water changes so hopefully that will help.
I don't want to have to drive very far to pick anything up. 15-20 minute drive is ok. I'm around 1960 & Jones40-cichlid

I would stick with the Bristle Nose if I were you. I'm not sure how big the albino chocolate gets that airportjunke is offering but the common Plecos that you get grow too large for a 40 gallon. You will inevitably have to find somewhere for it to go once it out grows your tank.
