I believe this little guy is a male based on the number and height of the rays on the dorsal. this is not a common eartheater species.

this one is ~2.5"tl.

this is not my picture, this is a slightly larger sub adult for reference. mine is the same only smaller. he is to quick to get a decent picture of.
