When you say proven do you mean they have raised discus. Or do you mean mated in that they have layed eggs.

Well, they have mated many times and laid eggs (fertilized). On one very recent occasion, they made it to free-swimming fry. However, I freaked out because they were in a community tank so I tried to move them and the fry to my smaller tank....bad idea. It was a big disaster and all the fry were lost (eaten)  :(  But for those several days of wigglers and the one day of free swimming, they were very good parents :)

On very rare occasion do I make it up to Houston. But recently we've been thinking of doing a little fishing up in Houston and find the best saltwater places in town. You know, be fish geeks and wander around the stores

The blues are nice. They were both purchased from River City Aquatics, but on two separate occasions and they formed the bond on their own. I believe they are both the Steindecker blue diamond.

For salt water fishing the best place I ever caught reds were between Galveston & the main land. East of the cause way.

Oh no, I'm not talking poles and lures, that is later this summer :) This is purely city fishing, going from store to store based on the locals recommendations

Wow, that's a lot of stores!  It makes Austin feel so small

Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that I'll be in Houston soon. There is a virus running around the family so I just don't know how much free time we will have. The pair will need to be picked up in Austin. Right now they are first come first serve and I just put ads for the tank and livestock up on Craigslist this afternoon.

Wow I saw the pics of the red turquoise discus and it looks really pretty.  But then I saw your in Austin lol.  For the best saltwater fishing I would advise freeport if your planning on fishing inshore.  We caught 3 huge red fish, 5 to 6 trout, and some other kind of fish.  The best place to get fish is offshore on a boat though.  We went to the Jeddes and caught a few fish.   However we did caught some really big catfish and other trouts.
