  • Feeder crabs....puffer owners LOOK!

I got a bucket full of small crabs which I think would make a puffer's greatest dreams!

These are small 3/4" and less and are saltwater crabs.....if you have ghost shrimp or near/passing a LFS pick me up a $1-2 worth of them and they are yours for the taking!

Got these for my dwarf fuzzy lionfish to eat but he just had a really hard time swallowing one of them so it's back to shrimp for this guy.....I have about 30-40+ of these little crabs so LMK!

These are LIVE so bring your bucket!

It shouldn't really matter since most puffers I have had and seen eat will beg at the front glass so they never make it far into the water anyways....also supposedly sw inverts/fish are more nutritional as feeders.

I have water so if you have a bucket and an airstone they will stay alive for quite some time....most are tiny blue crabs but there are some that are different which came out of sargassum algae.

Got them from my cousin...he had a tank with tons of local caught stuff....tons of these little crabs, various fish(one of which I took home as well) and anemone's.

He had them to feed an eel I believe. Also have an Angler that I might have to part with....it's too dump and swins alongside my fuzzy lionfish which might become fatal.

How long were they in your cousin's tank? The reason I ask is because I would be wary of feeding my puffer anything that came out of the Gulf without being quarantined for a long period of time.

                          Re: Feeder crabs....puffer owners LOOK!

I think they were in his tank for over a month or at least a month.

I understand your concern and would not have offered them if they were freshly collected....I tried to collect some peppermint shrimp while visiting my cousin but came home with nothing so he gave me some of the crabs he has been keeping to feed his fish. I thought the lionfish could get them but they she does not chew before swallowing and the first one gave her a really hard time.

They came out of a tank with synthetic salt water and are in my own mix of saltwater now after being acclimated.
