  • Food price

Im sorry for some questions that i may ask again because im new to this site ( about 2months). Where do you guys buy fish food from? I used to get bloodworm and cichlid flake at City pet and fish. i get  packs of frozen bloodworm for $2.99+  tax/each. I dont know that price is cheap or not but i think for a long time, i need to find a source of fish food so i can't save my money.  any recommendations will help...I need food for frontosa and african cichlids...

    Re: Food price

I buy large containers of bulk flake and pellet food online to cut down on cost. Some of it is brand name, some is not. I tend to just go by the percentages on their ingredient list to see if I want to buy it. Hope this helps. In the past, I have traded cichlid fry for fish food.

Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Danny at Houston Aquarium Warehouse has 16oz Hikari frozen bloodworm for $8.99 which beats City Pets by a buck.

So if gas is $4.00 a gallon now much would you have to buy to save $1.00 per pound at Dans?

Non issue...Dans and City Pets are within 5-7 minutes of each other.....and Dan has more interesting and better priced livestock

            Re: Food price

Dan does not have a min. qty. to receive the $8.99 price.

But if you wanna get technical about it....

            $8.99 x 4= $4.04

avg tank of gas.....20g and at $4g that would be $80

For it to pay for a tank of gas you would have to buy....about 80 pkg. of bloodworms from dan and the savings would buy you a tank of gas.

at 55 MPH for 6 minutes its 9 miles one way.
So if your car or truck gets 18 miles per gallon you still have to pay $4.00 in gas.
Just to save $1.00 in the price.
If I am wrong correct me. Cause it sounds like a $3.00 loss to me.
If you car gets 40 MPG its still cost more in gas to go to Dans.

But if you like to give the gas company your hard earn money then by all means do so.

                  By my calculator 8.99 x 4 = 35.96
By the way who is going to buy 80 1 pound packs at a time? You would have to spend $719.20 + tax.

                    Re: Food price

Well.....to solve that problem buy a whole lotta bloodworms and pick a bunch of other stuff he has like cheap/rare livestock and the eheims are at least $10-20 cheaper then the cheapest on the internet and probably a tank of gas worth cheaper then the more expensive LFS in town.

But if you have some sort of grudge against Dan then it's probably not worth the trip....

Quoc would you not have a grudge with someone that would post a photo shopped pic of your wife & post it on a forum & call her a street walker?

Oh wow.......I did not know that. 8O

I don't question people's reasons much for this kinda answer. I felt the grudge but didn't bother to ask since I knew it could be very personal or something simple.

Yes it is personal. For me no matter how cheap he will sell something. I will not buy from him.

I buy from Ken's Fish online. He is the cheapest I can come across. Check him out at http://www.kensfish.com/ .

Also, he special ordered some Eheim parts for me very cheap. If you need something, give him a shout.
