  • Looking for large Pleco

I'm looking to get a large pleco (anything over 6 or 7 inches). Does anyone have any suggestions for finding one for cheap? I don't really want to spend very much money because I feel like the supply of plecos that have outgrown their tank exceeds the demand. Maybe I'm wrong, but let me know if you have any input.

I have 2 that are about 10-12 inches. I was in Houston this weekend, but am back in Baton Rouge now. You are a week late, sorry

A lot of times craigslist has large plecos for free. I'd keep an eye out there, if you can't find one here.

just my 2 cents, plecos grow pretty fast with food and are generally pretty hardy, so you can get any pleco from lfs or petco/smart and within no time it will be bigger and uglier than you can imagine, lots of people are happy to part with unsightly large plecos, of course i am talking about the common pleco, the specialty one's are a different story
            65 gallon - ADA 120p - planted
55 gallon - AGA standard - mix cichlid
            30 gallon tall - eclipse acrylic - semi-planted

Got one about 14"-16" we would part with.  We're in the SW/Sugarland part of town.

I have a couple that are about 6". You can have one (you can choose which one) for free. I'm near downtown if you are interested. What are you going to do with him, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm not going to charge for for the pleco. It's free. Just be aware that he will outgrow a 40 gallon tank. I'm not sure if a pleco is going to be the answer to keeping to tank clean though. I've PMed you with my contact info.

So far my best cleaner pleco is my royal pleco (but they are like 20 bucks for a small one at City Pets, and a little bigger ones 30 bucks at HAW)

I leave the light on around 6 hours everyday.
Will 12" pleco be good in 40 gal tank?
                              Thanks
