WTB: White Sand

    WTB: White Sand

    Hey guys, I'm setting up the 35 gallon that I impulse bought the other day.
    I need white sand, enough to fill the 35-40 gallon and some extra to keep in the garage.

    Let me know what you have and the price.    
    I'm looking to buy it sometime this weekend because I will be in the Houston area.
    Also, I run rena xp3 canister filters and eheim pro II's.

    I think cichlidfan had some white sugar sand for sale.
    A house without a puffer is not a Home.

      I have some of the sugar sand available, however, I must be clear, the sand is so fine, that it should be used only in tanks where the fish will not be disturbing the substrate much. Meaning, if you have active larger fish, you do not want to use this sand, it is so fine it is sucked up into the filtration systems easily when disturbed by fish or anything else.

      If your tank will be fairly docile, or you will be keeping smaller fish, this sand would be fine for you.

      The sand sells for 25.00 for a 100 pound bag.

        It's going to be a community tank, possibly just a fry tank.  
        Are you available any time on Saturday? I'd like a bag if you have it.

            BUMP for myself. lol.
            Cf...still have that sand? Do you think I could use this sand to grow plants in?

            Either way...I'm going to need at least one bag for my mom's tank. Possibly another for mine (depending on plant growth).

              Well again, after using it for a few months now, I have come to the conclusion that it is acceptable in planted tanks or tanks with smaller, more docile fish.
              the sand will drift in the water table if disturbed by large fish, and ultimately be caught up into most filters.

              Bottom line, use the sugar sand in planted tanks or tanks with smaller quieter fish. I do have several bags left though.

                Would you consider a clown loach docile? That's probably my most active fish. I also have the dang violet goby....who by the way is up for adoption (free).

                    lol, they're babies. Maybe an inch at best. Well...I'll take my chances and mix it with my existing sand...so, two bags please.

                          Got lost in this.  Do you still need some white I have I think a 30 or 40 pound bag, what ever it comes in.
