              Re: GOT IT----NEED FISH TANK

Well, i got one finally, and is BIG!!!! 200gl, it needs some cleaning and it came without filters but man I'm happy.

couple of questions for you experts.

what would you guys recomend for filtration system???  (fresh water)
how long should i have it running for before adding fish?
the  tank is not drilled and it doesnt have any overflows.

              thanks for all your help.

                Re: GOT IT----NEED FISH TANK

Eheim 2260 or 2262 and a wet dry...maybe a air sponge and power head ....depends on your bio load...or how many and what kind of fish you plan to keep in the tank.....the more fish, the better filtration....

New-fish -- welcome to the box.
I will recommend for that size tank go get a Pro-clear 300 (or 400) with dual overflow boxes, running double tubing, with a MAG 12/18 as the return pump, using a 250w heater installed in the sump.  This will ensure no matter what that what ever fish you put in it will have ample O2 and a good enough flow though the system that your ammonia/Nitrites/Nitrates will be at 0 at almost any moment in time.

Wow, some of you would make GREAT car salesmen! lol..

Steve (Cichlid Fan) is right, it all depends on your bio-load. How many fish do you plan on keeping? Sometimes the type of fish as well can dictate what type of filtration as well.

I am sorry Geoff you are correct --  The test kit I use cannot show accurately show nitrates but I can say with a wet/dry I get consistently <20 ppm... while I get 0 on both Ammonia and Nitrites...

                            With a canister filter I get consistently +/- 20ppm -- this is why I LOVE wet/dry systems.
