i have not ever been to a fish auction. Im gonna go on saturday. what should i expect? how does it work(the bidding)? will anybody be bringing small electric blue cichlids?

Everything - things you never knew you needed and things you just can't live without.
More fish & goodins than you can afford or have room for and prices so low you can't stop bidding.
Fill everything you have that will hold water, even your bath tub, because you'll need homes for everything you bring back.
Be sure to bring a van or a pickup so you can haul it all away.

since it is GHAC's first auction it will be exciting to see what all does show up. All are invited to attend - there is a fee of $5. for a bidder card so you may bid or you can join GHAC for $5. & the fee is waived for members.
I have been gathering up items and try to have them all labeled & numbered & have reached #35 w/ still a few to go. Personally am bringing - few fish / few plants / tank decor / heater / shells / sm tanks / pond items / powerheads /etc.
there have been a few threads that some have stated what they may bring and donations from some great supporters.

You show up get a bidders card just like V said... $5.00 for non members or you can choose to become a member of GHAC for $5.00 and then there is no bidding fee for the auction. Check-in is at 10am which means if you want to sell something then you will need to bring it at 10am. You will have forms to fill out unless you fill them out prior to showing up. You can download and print the forms out at www.myghac.org
Then the auction should start (we hope) around 11 or a little after and well you can figure out how the bidding will go.
You can buy drinks and food at the auction, but you cannot bring anything yourself inside.
The facility is a non-smoking facility.
When you are done and want to head home (in the middle of the whole thing or in the end) you can check out at the check out counter, where they will process your purchase and pay for everything.
