        Don't you think a 400 is a bit much for a 30-40 gallon tank....LOL!!!  Next thing you know you have a bunch of swole up fish swimming around because of the current...

            I don't think a emp 400 is overkill on a 30 gallon tank, depends on what you intend to keep in it I guess...
            Granted a 280 would be perfect, but I don't have an extra 280 laying around.
