How about if you get a mobil home water heater and a circulating pump ?
You could do a swimming pool with that.

I have a 300w heater on my 75g.
I know I can use a smaller heater, but then it would take longer to warm up the temp. Big heater can do the job faster, which means more stable water conditions.
I'm guess you don't have a 500w heater for sale?I ate my fish that died.

You could always buy 2 x 250 watt heaters if you want to warm it up fast. Sorry i dont have a 500w for sale, the largest I have is a 300w for a 135 (which is overkill - we live in texas!).

I have a 300w in my 125g and even with 100% water changes it rarely comes on.

Heat transfer out of the tank to the room depends on surface area & temperature difference.

how much wattage u need all depends on how many degrees above the rooms temp you are trying to raise the tank temp. if keeping a tank in your garage in the winter ( got down in the 30's the other night) i could see 500w or more being neccesary.Comment

unless youre place is freezeing, which might be the case, cuz some people dont want to run the heater, and rack up extra watts for the light bill
i dont have heaters on my tanks, im barefoot and in shorts most of the time
dont really worry about the light bill, rather like it being comfortable and not freezing in my own homeComment
