i dont have heaters on my tanks, im barefoot and in shorts most of the time

dont really worry about the light bill, rather like it being comfortable and not freezing in my own home
same here, i have a 250watt jagger in my 125g, and it almost never comes on. my room temps stays at 72degrees.  the tank stays at 81degrees.  my 75g has a single 150watt jagger.

however, my 55G RES tank in the garage has 2x 300watt jaggers and it keeps it at 72 degrees, i also have 1x 300watt uva/uvb lamp and a sealed and insulated heating dock built onto the side of the tank. which she goes into.

But in your house, iif your temp stays around 68-72 degrees, i would say a 300 watt jager on a rancho temp controller which is what my tanks are on should keep it completly stable.
    Just  my two cents.
