Anyone know where I can pick up some cheap/free gravel rocks.  I'm setting up a 120 this weekend and I need a little(lot) more gravel.  I've already becan collectiong rocks from around my neighborhood but everything is kinda big.  I swear the next time I go to San Marcos I'm taking a giant sterilite tote.  the last time I was there (I go every year) I was even talking to a friend of mine about how the riverbed rocks would make perfect gravel

Try and find a rock yard tha sells landscaping rocks. They sometimes sells pea gravel as well.

I checked out lowes.co and they have rock for cheap but they don't say pounds, only .5 cu. ft.  Anyone know how many pounds this is?

You dont need to know pounds if you know the cubic feet. How deep are you going to do your substrate?

the tank is 6ft X 16" X 24" (LWH)  It's gonna be a ca/sa cichlid tank so plenty of gravel is a must, maybe an inch or so deep

Your gonna need lots of bags... really reccommend you look for a rock yard, they sell the cubic feet much cheaper (you need 16 cubic feet... 32 bags)

Alamo Stone sells pea gravel in 80lb bags for $7.00.  Not sure what that translates out to in cubic feet, but it's another option.

could you tell me where they are located at, they blow EVERYONE else away at that price.  The cubic feet was when i was looking at gardening rock at lowes.com.  but it's kinda bunk when applting to aquariums because dif. fish need dif. amounts of gravel
