could you tell me where they are located at, they blow EVERYONE else away at that price.  The cubic feet was when i was looking at gardening rock at lowes.com.  but it's kinda bunk when applting to aquariums because dif. fish need dif. amounts of gravel
Yeah, I really like Alamo.  We go to the one over here in Stafford, but their website says they have a location in Spring.  http://www.alamostonecompany.com/

I usually walk the lot and pick out some bigger rocks while I'm there.  Since I'm not buying a pallet, they usually just let me pay for the bags of gravel and not charge me for the individual larger rocks.  :)

Where did you get 16 cubic feet?

1 cubic foot would do a 12 inch wide section by 12 foot length by 1 inch deep. So youd only need about 3/4 of a cubic foot. (someone correct me if im wrong )

in my 75g i used 2 of the 50lb bags of gravel from home depot, that gave me about 2.5" of overall depth.
i am fixing to do the same thing with my 125g(72x18x22)LWH and i guestimate i'll need about 3 bags.
its cheap to, only 4.99 for a 50lb bag.

If you are going 2" thick on a 72"x16" footprint you would need 1.33 cubic feet of gravel . There are 1728 cubic inches in one cubic foot.
