  • looking for free livebearers

    starting up a small pond . anyone have some they want to get rid of? mollies,goldfish,etc

    before you add any more expensive fish, I would recommend you add a couple dozen guppies or gambusia to the pond. You can catch hundreds of them at any creek nowadays.

    Be careful if you do get mollies, they can interbreed with gambusia, so you would have to get rid of the local fish before add the fancy fish. Or if you get goldfish you can leave the gambusia in as feeders

        That's kinda a long ways to go for just livebearers. They are in just about any creek, stream or bayou in Houston.

            I always got feeder goldies from the fish store. 10 for a dollar. after 1 year the were some nice comets.

                I've got a couple of platys, sail-fin mollies for free. 2 red platys and 5 mollies
