Once I caught a pretty decent perch, left it out of the water for over three hours, got home and was rinsing it so I could scale it and fry it, when it started flapping. Filled the sink up, it started swimming, so I threw it in my Jack Dempsey tank. Fished lived for three years, but the Jack Dempsey male didn't like it. Always fighting.
