  • Wanted : low tech fore ground plants

I want some nice low tech foreground plants. At first I wanted bdt by I read they needed a stable co2 system which I can't afford ATM so anyone generous enough to give me a mat or a few pieces to get my tank looking not so bare

Foreground plants are usually higher tech due to the fact that they grow vertically instead of horizontally in lower light. Try some anubias nanas petites. If you get a whole bunch of 'em, you can essentially make a carpet out of them.
    All bleeding stops eventually...

Well I've read some where that there's an easier species of dbt but I forgot the exact name. Im just really ready for some fore ground plants because my cypts aren't doing it for me anymore. They're fun to look at but idk just doesn't scream out to me.

Pygmy chain is tenellus...also high light.

All are pretty much high tech/high light.

Dwarf sag does ok but without the above you get tall grass.
Marsilea minuta is low light but then you don't get a patch effect, you get sparse stems here and there.

Go with fake stuff, take pictures far away and no one will know.

LoL I WILL!!!! I use just coral life pc lights. If anything I'll just upgrade my lighting when I get a new job or do the anubus route till I get some cash.

anubias nana var 'petite' to fill foreground would cost you as much as buying a good light and cheap co2 system.

That would look like shist if you can't keep it detritus free... plus you would probably die of old age before it became a lush and nice carpet that covered the foreground... unless you bought it in a sheet and just laid it down for pictures.

It's more for my eyes more then the public. I'll probably wait to just upgrade my lighting and get a lil co2 system going.

even you would be fooled too with some of the nicer plastic plants they are offering nowadays. Never have had foreground before you wouldn't know the difference!

You would pay 2-3x that much just to get a nice foreground that would not last...
