try dwarf sag, I bought a pot from the petsmart on shepherd/west alabama for 5 bucks, and this is how it's looking after 2-3 months -- probably low light at the substrate. Keep in mind I'm trying to keep it blocked in.
Also keep in mind there are various varieties of "dwarf sag", but I think, evidenced by my growth, it seems to be the shorter growing type. there is some "dwarf sag" out there that grows to well over 6 inches high.
This is in a low/med light, non-co2 - excel tank. I dose NPK, spam rootmedic, and water change pretty frequently.
