Looking for free plants for 1st grade classroom tank

Ok guys, my first graders are getting ready to learn about living things along with animal and plant life cycles. I was able to convince my principal to let me have a 10 gallon tank. It will be a dirted tank capped off with some gravel. Looking for some carpet type of plant and any nice looking plants. Also not sure on the type of lighting I will need. Can I just use one of those clip on shop bulbs? I had a t5 for the ten gallon but the ballast is dead. Any help woild be greatly appreciated. Will provide pics of the tank in classroom and update. I'm in katy

You still looking for plants? I got a bunch Hygrophila difformis, plus a sprig of moneywort I could spare. Both will grow pretty quickly (be prepared to prune) even in low-to-medium light.
