        It breaks down but that's what you want, it still holds its shape though supposedly and plecos and shrimp graze on it.

              Oh yeh they leech quite a bit so I had soaked it for couple of hours and boiled them before putting them into my tanks

                  I don't know if any of ya'll still need cholla, but I've got a bunch of really gorgeous pieces (I started harvesting the wood for my pleco -- it seems to be his favorite food right now!) I have been going out and cutting. I high grade and get rid of the crumbly crap. I'm just so glad to find something my pleco likes and is readily available and I know hasn't been treated with anything scary!

                        It's wonderful -- it's all high desert around here, so we have gorgeous lush valleys and arid plateaus. :-)
