Any interest in a group buy on this? If I buy 5 gallons or more then I can get them for about 25 bucks each. The 4L jug of excel runs for around 60 bucks with shipping online and that equals 1.06 gallons. I could accept paypal from everyone, place the order, and meet after work somewhere when they arrive.

I received this response from a technical representative of the Metrex company, who are the makers of MetriCide:
the active ingredient of Glutaraldehyde is exactly the same in both products. It is just the percentage of glutaraldehyde in either one that changes.
MetriCide 14:
2.6% Glutaraldehyde
No Surfactants
pH Range: 3.2 – 4.3 unactivated; 6.5 – 8.5 activated
MetriCide 28:
2.5% Glutaraldehyde
Yes there are surfactants in this solution
pH Range: 3.2 –4.3 unactivated; 7.5 –8.5 activated
I was also forwarded the MSDS sheets and while MC14 is just 2.6% glut in balance water, the MC28 is 2.5% glut in balance "water and other inert ingredients". the specific gravity is slightly higher in the MC28 but the boiling point is the same so there PROBABLY isnt much of this surfactant in the MC28 but I am not going to take the chance...I will order the MC14. There is also a buffer in the activator of the MC28, but as I remarked above we shouldnt be using that.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

yeah sorry we couldnt get more in on it too make it worthwhile to do a group buy. We might have saved 5 bucks on shipping but would have burned that up in gas since we live on opposite sides of H town. I was thinking you were going to buy the M28 type from the link you posted. I ended up feeling safer with buying the M14, nothing different to report on it yet.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

Yeah not a problem.
I am going to go with the 14 also, after doing the research. Lmk how it compares to Excel once you have it figured out.Originally posted by Totenkampf View Postyeah sorry we couldnt get more in on it too make it worthwhile to do a group buy.
