I'm waiting on some more acrylic experienced people to reply but from the researching I've done so far, the .5" is their basic show tank specs. There is availability to upgrade to 3/4". Of the proposals I have requested from builders, each one recommended no less than 3/4" for the same dimensions. I saw this add on Texas photo forum a while back.
It's good you didn't get it. Older tenecor were made with 1/2" acrylic for 30"h tanks.
I read somewhere that tenecor had to increase to 3/4" for 30"h tanks because customers complained about it bowing.I ate my fish that died.

I had to pass - the thickness was nagging me.
