Original Post:
I got a lot of requests to my original post, but it's pretty clear that most people don't have a clue what they are asking for. PLEASE DON'T ASK FOR THESE IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO PROPERLY PLANT AND CARE FOR THEM. YOU MUST HAVE A POND TO PUT THEM IN!!
These are WATER LILIES. BABY water lilies. They must be planted (SOON) in the proper soil/clay mix in a hole-less pot size one gallon minimum, covered with sand and then 5/8" gravel, and submerged in a pond deep enough that one foot of water will be over the crown of the plants.
They are not irises, they are not bog plants, they are not terresterial plants. They go IN A POND and must be PROPERLY PLANTED.
Also, there are about 20 plant starts, including three different types of lilies. You don't get ALL of them. "i can pu 2nite" doen'st tell me what you want. Please specify if you want a purple lily, a white night bloomer, or a snowflake. Or if you'd like two.
Another thing, I realize that many of you are replying via cell phone and that typing is difficult. However "ill take it" comes across as a little cold and does not incline me to give YOU the plant.
Only two people have received plants so far, because they indicated they have a pond and some water gardening experience, and because they asked nicely. In the meantime, the rest of the plants are sitting out of water in the hot sun, getting past their prime. This is disappointing, because I am offering some good things...the purple lilies and snowflakes are worth about $40 each (when full grown) and the night bloomers are worth $60. At this point, there is diminished chance they will grow.
If you want a lily (or more) and have a pond and will properly plant and care for it, please reply (again) and we'll sift through this.
Sorry for the rant, but this has been a frustrating offer. I'm not sure if people want a WATER LILY or simply want something because it's FREE.
Below is my original post:
I did my dividing and repotting this evening (Sunday), and have some divisions to give away.
-A good number of purple lilies. There are some really small starts, and some that are just tubers that should put out leaves if planted, and three fairly large chunks with soil still attached, leaves, and some of those have parts you can divide off for even more lilies.
-Four night bloomers, white in color. The pads on this guy are really huge, so it takes up a lot of space. The starts are very small, ½" maybe, but there are leave showing, and they should sprout when planted.
-Then about eight white snowflake starts, some with roots and some just the new pad the plants put out floating on top of the water.
All of these are wrapped in newspaper in plastic bags and will need to be planted soon.
