Male Festae

Not sure if this is late news/in the wrong section, but Xtreme fish and Pets has some very VERY nice specimens in. I'm sure all of them are males. They're labeled as Wild caught. $40 ea. About 3"-5". All of them appear healthy. I had to refrain from an impulse buy.. Hope this helps.

He has a tank full of fry too labeled "wild caught" that are about 1.5"-2" for $12 ea I think?

We got 10 Festae fry from there a few weeks back. The tank said wild caught but he told us they came from a local breeder. They are pretty and healthy though. We have 2 that have bright red fins and deep golden bodies already.

Thought so... They're pretty hard to care for! I wasn't about to waste money on fish that will kill each other. They look nice when they're bigger though

The Festae are nothing compared to the our other SA tank. We have Grammodes.... We got 5 and fully understand that once two of them pair up they will kill everything else in the tank over night. Thank the fish gods we love our aggressive SA's. lolgram4.jpg

Thought so... They're pretty hard to care for! I wasn't about to waste money on fish that will kill each other. They look nice when they're bigger though

They really are not that hard to care for. We do a 75% W/C once a week and we keep the tank up around 85/86, we know it's kinda warm for them but it helps with faster growth and keeps down on the out breaks of ick. We keep all of our grow out tanks like this, it helps so much. Other then that we make sure we have other throw away fish about their size to keep their aggression occupied on other things. We breed Malawi and SA's so we have all kinds of throw away fish. We also have LOTS of stuff for them to swim around, over, under, and through to keep them entertained. Ours are almost 2" and already starting to show color.

Yeah, but I don't have any throw away fish to keep down aggression and I'd rather start with one at least 4"

Saw the Festaes today. They look pretty good. Not too sure about them being male or female
