Are there any good alternatives to using Seachem's "The Bag" with this stuff? I've heard it's best to use those, but surely there are other options that still work just as well.
It's best to use The Bag. They are resistant to bleach, acid, and caustic.

I have tried the paint strainer bags from Home Depot and Sherwin Williams and also panty hose. They all let the small particles come out in the water. I have them in my sump and when I pull them out the next thing I know is I have white particles floating in the water. I just bought the bags and they are a finer micron. I will see how they work.
