  • I have a question if any one can help!!🙏

Okay so I have my favorite albino long fin bristle ode pleco who is medium sized about 3 inches or so. He is in a 160 gallon aquarium. I also have a 55 gallon setup next to it but it has a brown female bristlenose and a huge like 5 inch albino female. She's just huge next to the male.

    ANYWAYS...

I was wondering do y'all think that the big albino female bristlenose would kill my male or would they breed? Basically Is this a bad Idea or no??

    Leave comments with advice please!

Info: plenty of hiding spaces huge price of red oak drift wood in the center that the male always stays in.

Bad idea. Why would you breed reg and albino together? You do know albino is the recessive trait? If you were to breed them, you'd just get Brown ones with minimal chance of albinos. The albinos have been line bred for hobbyists that liked the trait. Breeding albino with albino will give a higher chance of albino offspring.

If you were referring to adding the big female albino bn pleco with the small male, I see no reason not to. The female might bully the male at first but it's a large tank, so there's a lot of space to escape.

I agree with Mista The brown with albino will only get brown. with an albino now and then.
The Albinos together would be the best choice. Giving some short fin and some long fin.

What kind of other fish do you have? in both tanks?

I have had a pair breeding in a tank for some time now and never knew. The other fish eat any fry. So its a bad Idea to put breeders in with other fish...

I would give it a try, don't see any negative problems.

The tank is large enough where the submissive can retreat.

Albino is the recessive trait, i have a pair of each group ABN and brown calico. Well the calico is a freak of genetics she must has an albino dominant gene but it does not show it. She breeds with my albino male and produce several albino plecos, none of them survive however which leads me to believe that the genes were not strong.

I suggest you can breed them it wouldnt hurt as you might not know what it might come out in the end. Genetics is a crazy science that dont always yield the expected result.

Well yeah I don't think the brown one was going in there. Lol. But I'm just afraid because there was a big male and I bought them together. But eventually she out grew him. The male was dead when I woke up in the morning. After about 3 months of having them.
So I just want to make sure most likely wont get killed? There is plenty if space to run if he needed to and he always hides very good. I have several different species! I can't figure out how to get the pictures to upload on here. If y'all have Instagram my username is @shushhhhuuuu and there are some photos of them.

Thanks y'all for taking the time for advice!! 😁

Regardless of what "color" it is they will fight.

                  Breeding doesn't just happen.

I wasn't trying to get them to breed. If they do cool. But when I put her in there they both started fighting and I'm afraid that the male will die. My aquarium is decorated soni would have to take everything out..

Every one said they thought it would be okay. It's just not working.

What about when you go to breed the albino male and female?? They won't even stay together. This makes no sense

They have to settle their differences, one will retreat after hierarchy is established

I see what your saying. Very thankful for your help. I noticed that I think they did just that. The male is pushed out of his normal spot. Are females usually the mean ones? Lol

The larger one is usually the more dominant/mean one.
