OK so the drain plug started leaking, is the little ball valve replaceable?

    Is it standard npt?

If so go grab some rectorseal(liquid tephlon) and coat the threads in it, then tighten back up and let dry for 24 hours.
The threads have to be super clean and completly dry.
    Hope this helps.

Im not sure, I didn't mess with it too much since there's no fish in the tank. (new setup) ill check when I get home, if all else fails I wonder if I can pull the ball valve out and silicone it shut...

Well the leak has stopped and I got it working, but it just doesn't seem to be moving as much water as I thought it would...

Try the DIY spray bar, nasty amount of flow.

Idk lol, I pulled it out and wiped it off. I am leaving the ball valve open and letting the plugged piece of tubing on it act as a plug.

I was going to tell that I had mine running that way for awhile with no problems. Again glad it worked out for you. Check that the impeller is in good shape on your flow issue and the inlet tube is Is sealing properly. Good luck
