  • Wet/Dry Overflow

Just set up my newly acquired wet dry and Im having trouble with the pump being too strong. It's a Rio 2500hp and the overflow box I just got was supposedly used with a Mag 7. Is there anything I can do without buying another overflow to increase the flow back into the sump? It doesn't get low until after a few minutes of it running.

How "full" is the u-tube? It doesn't have a pocket of air near the top does it?

If so, stick an air tube in there and stuck all the air out.

Also, if there is no air in the u-tube than you can install a ball valve to dial the pump back some.

Didn't you have two wet/dry filters to run on this tank? why not use both overflows?

Im letting the tank cycle a little bit with the new wet dry. Changed out bio balls, put the old ones in the new wet dry and the new ones in the old wet dry. Other wet dry is running on my other tank for now.
        Thai: Im gonna text u.

can you plumb in a recycle back to the sump ? just 't' off the return line and run a short piece with a ball valve on it. That way you can throttle how much water goes back to the sump and your not restricting the flow to the tank. I heard forcing the pump to have more pressure could shorten the life. You would have to ask the others about that though. I havent gotten that far with my project yet.

I've heard that as well but have seen no merit to it.
