  • Painting inside overflow?

Wanting to paint my background blue instead of the black that I've been favoring lately. Have a change of heart but my overflow is black. Anyway to paint it blue? I know it's silly but might as well try anyway of possible.

Hmmm... trying to visualize this. Do you have a pic? Is it possible to just paint the outside of the overflow?

Well as you know, the outside overflow sits on the back of the tank and the inside sits inside of the tank. The inside part is black and if I paint the background blue, the overflow will look awkward against the blue background.

Ok. Not inside the overflow, but the inside portion of the overflow.
I'm guessing its made from black acrylic? No reason not to paint it up. Use a spraycan, and make sure you have adequate coverage/layers. You don't want it chipping off. Should look nice.

I'm worried about the paint not being safe for the fish. It is the overflow that sits inside the tank. That's my concern. Guessy
question is, "is there a fish safe paint"?

                  It's safe. Just use fusion.

kyrlon fushion and just make sure it's fully cured prior to use.

I along with many others use it with no ill effects.

Cured meaning let it dry and then soak in prime?

Cured= completely dry. Not sticky. 24-48hrs. Put it in the sun.

+1 and no need to soak in prime

Yeah you're right. I searched google and found a little bit but I saw mistahoo's build thread and I got confirmation. Thanks guys. Although I may feel like something is possible I always like reinforcement of success stories before I commit with something like this.
