  • Powerhead Placement?

Having a hard time producing the current I want without pushing the sand around in the middle. How should I place these powerheads (K4, and Evo1400) in my 125 to have good current but not push the sand around?

    Powerhead Placement?

Put it in a back corner down low and point it upward towards the upper front middle. It will do good, did mine that way and works for me

So do both that way on opposite corners?

        Powerhead Placement?

If you two, put the other at opposite end up semi high and point it straight towards the other side. That way you get total circulation

Opposite ends pointing up until it doesn't blow away sand

You can use eggcreat to keep the sand from shifting so easy too...

What kind of current are you looking for J? To remove detritus? Maximum water velocity?

I'm just wanting something that will remove detritus and push it towards the overflow. Also something that allows my fish to swim in.

Is the overflow in one end of the tank?

Yeah it's in the right corner. I was thinking of placing both powerheads on the same side, but decided against it.

                      Re: Powerhead Placement?

Place both on the left side glass, side by side 4" - 6" apart straddling the vertical center line equally. Position the heads so that they are both perpendicular to the left side glass. Start off with them placed just above mid level and let them work like that for a day and see how you like it. Then move them up bit by bit daily with the heads always perpendicular to the glass till you achie satisfactory results.

Np. Keep in mind that using a surface skimming overflow to remove detritus takes a long time compared to using canister.

But the method I mentioned keeps detritus suspended off the substrate.

Thanks Sunny. I have my wet dry and two canisters on my tank.
