  • Any Problem Using Holey Rock for Decoration in Non-Cichlid Freshwater Tank?

I like the look of natural holey rock and would like to use it for decoration in a 65 gallon general community freshwater tank. I understand that the holey rock is made out of limestone and buffers the water around a pH value of 8 that is beneficial for cichlids. My question is whether holey rock is detrimental—versus simply perhaps sub-optimal—to non-cichlids (say, for example, neon tetras, clown loaches, plecostomuses, etc.)?

I’ve used some years ago and didn’t have any problems. Although it was just one cantaloupe sized piece

I have numerous holey rocks in my 300 gal aquarium. I have many non-cichlids, tetras, clown loaches, cory cats, red tailed shark, plecos and cyps (cichlid) and they all seem to be doing fine. The PH is around 7.4-7.6.
