    Fungus :(

    Well my male Aulonocara sp. "Stuartgranti Maleri" (Chipoka) Sunshine Peacock has gotten a severe case of Fungus and pitting on both sides of his snout.  Man I am worried to hell and back ....  I dont like to see my fish sick... I have not been home for the last three days and three days ago I just thought he had been in a fight and I dropped some melafix in the tank.  Now I am worried that some of the other fish are sick and but they seem to be normal.  The male was easy to catch and he didnt put up much of a fight.. (this worries me too)  I carefully put him solo in a 10g tank...

    I dont want to lose him :(  *cry*  (somewhere I am praying for the Dagon to give me redemption for my pour fish)

    I will check to see if he gets better tomorrow.

    If it's fungus you could try the dip method....mix capsule for half of the suggested water volume and dip it in a container for a few minutes.....try using some kosher salt and make sure there is plenty of aeration.

    I did a paste mix and applied directly to wound once with a 12" Asian Arowana and it cured it within days but the problem was caught really early.

      Hope he starts looking better.  :(

      Are you just going to change the water in the 10g a lot, or are you planning on medicating him?

            Well Bad news..  he was put in a 10g last night... and medicated the tank..
            Today he was upside down and not moving...  He has joined the ranks of fish in the sky..

            Another secondary problem has occured and I am thinking that this could be the culpret..  It looks like all the fish now have contracted bloat or something else.. no one will eat this morning.  Even fish that jumped at food last night...

            So I am going to get a clean tote from Walmart drain the water out of the 70 completely.  Put all the fish in the tote, and medicate the tote.
            I am thinking bloat because all the fish pick at food and then spits it back out.

                Going home today with the intentions of doing a massive water change in that tank and then adding some salt and some meds again.
                I am dead tired, but somehow I need to keep moving.

                I dont know what I am going to do about the chipoka male that died.. I want to replace him but that is easier said than done :(

                  Another Female didnt make it though the water change and adding of salt to the system.   I am thinking they are all suffering from bloat --  the Alhi's are starting to look better, but no one are going to eat for the next few days as I am going to medicate and keep the temp a little high with salt in the system.  Added more aeration.  I noticed several of the Alhi's had white stringy poop, but unlike the chipoka's they are swimming around and being aggressive to everyone like normal.  The peacocks are not moving at all or very little.  Did a 80%+ water change this evening.  Added Salt to the tank so they are all being medicated.  Sadly I am starting to think I am going to lose all the chipoka's which will be no good.. but I hope they survive.  If they do then I might add more back to the group or I might end up selling them off when they are back to normal.  Another water change is going to happen in 48 hours.. we will see how things are then.  This weekend will be a third one.  

                  I will let everyone know how things are going look like over the next few days..
