How many fry can a female tropheus moliro gave birth at one time?

  • #2
I'm not sure your intentions behind wanting to breed Trophs, but I can tell you that it's taken me a year for me just to get 11 fry out of a colony of 25. Perhaps if you get lucky and can buy an established breeding colony and duplicate the previous owner's tank settings you might get lucky - but the reality is that it takes a lot of time and major money to breed enough to even pay off the investment of the colony and setup.

To answer your question: 0 to 10 - sometimes more, all depending on the type of environment the fry are born into.

+1. I just strip my 3.75'' female and she had 6 viable eggs. However, me and Ek have strip a 5'' female that held 18. It depends on how much eggs the female can hold.

Breeding with sp. red seems to be a lot easier and it takens place a lot sooner then other sp.

Rainbows of any variant tends to be harder to breed.
I ate my fish that died.
