im getting a new stand this weekend for my 55gallon and will have to drain most if not all of the water in the tank in order to move it. Im going to buy a few 5 gallon buckets to try and reuse some of the water. will i run into any problems if i change out to much of the water.

I've done what you are about to do....was a bit of work, but fairly easy.....I used a spare 55 gallon tank that I have in the garage and set it up in the same room....took a power head and transfered about 40 gallons to the spare tank.....and then used the same water over again, after I moved the original tank....no biggie.....
Just keep any filters you have running on this tank ...running on a 5 gallon bucket....would be better to use one of them big gray bins....that hold about 30 gallons....
