I would say no it isn't illegal. But you may want to check the fish and game website to be sure...

it is legal to keep locally caught species with a max of 6 of one species and a total of 20 of mixed species. however it is illegal to sell them without a permit.

a bass is a game fish if you catch one in size limit you will be ok but if its under the size limit just dont get caught

My father has a pond with some Florida Black Bass in it, he's always catching babies in perch traps.
