Re: black vinyl tint backgroud
Go to Home Depot, they have window tinting for household applications. They have a black privacy tint available that blocks almost all visible light. I use it on my tanks, and when the lights are on you can't see through the background. When the lights are off the tint is slightly transparent. Its like $17/roll.Last edited by TexSun; 09-14-2012, 09:04 AM.30Long: L134 Leopard Frog Plecos X16, Corydoras Sterbai X9, Endlers X4

that house privacy tint is really black, i have never thought of using it and its probably less expensive than car tint. i often use the black dropcloths in the thicker mil from HD, they are tough and hang well. i never notice water getting between the sheet and plastic but then i use soft water so there arent mineral deposits. recycled pond or pool liner is great too.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

I second what Texsun said. The stuff is super dark and looks good. We use it at work on sliding door fridges that have glass in the doors and contain light sensitive chemicals and works excellent. Mad at myself now that I have never thought of using as a background.
