It depends on your preference on being able to see a slaughter or constantly having your fish full. When I had them, I would catch mosquito fish by the hundreds and dump them in the tank. At first it was fun to watch them go through a dozen or so, but after that I hardly ever got to see them eat because they would just slurp one or two up when they were hungry. So I got a tank for the mosquito fish and whenever I wanted a show (which was everyday) I would drop a few in there and watch them go to work.

Feed 6 days a week and give them a day to fast so they don't get constipated. Maybe 2-3 fish? Honestly, if you can get them pellet trained, they'll be healthier and more aggressive when time comes where you want them to chase down fish. Plus they'll grow larger and faster without chances of disease and parasites transferring over to them
Yeah do what EK says. I once went to Fish Gallery and got some ghost shrimp. They made my fish sick. I never had any problems with wild caught mosquito fish for some reason.

Mine ate frozen shrimp! U have "throw" in the food and make a splash to get their attention. Trick is to throw live food then right after throw n the shrimp or pellet.
