So how do you go about moving all your fish? Have you moved them further than within a complex?
I ask because we are looking for a bigger house where I plan to have a dedicated fish room but having to move my fish/tanks seem to be a bit of a hassle. I myself have thought of just making the best of the situation and just upgrading to larger tanks for at least my Ilangi colony and setting up a rack system with some 6fters for other variants.
If you going to have a dedicated room I would start getting my larger tank line up before the move. As for breaking down tanks and moving fish. Look at getting a 55 gallon rubbermaid trash can for each tank to move fish. Rocks can be moved in anything...leave the sand/gravel in the tanks.
Delock.. some of us (most of us if not all) are not nearly as strong as you are.. therefore moving sand/gravel in the tank is not an option...
I have moved tanks at my house.. just around... and unlike Delock, I have to completely take down a tank to nothing to move them. Â They are simply to heavy for me to move any other way.
I would agree with Delock.. if you are thinking about getting bigger tanks, then get them setup first so all you have to do it just move fish alone.
I helped moving Mike out of his store.. even though I was more like the man who looked over things.. not actually moving things..
If I knew ahead of time I was going to have fish tanks in my house that I have now I would not have gotten the house I am in as it is.. I would have made sure there wasnt a fireplace in it in the first place :) :) :) (its there now for the day I sell the house)
I would first and foremost travel to the Geeks house.. I REALLY thought of what they did with their fish rooms... Â They have one of the nicest fishroom / living room that I can think of. Â They got tanks on either side of the TV for one. Â They made sure that the tanks have canopy's them so space on top of them can be used for storing pictures and other nicknacks. Â They use tanks as room dividers which I would do too :) this way I can have BIG tanks cutting the room in two. Â They extended a hallway with tanks, which looks great.. because now the tank can be looked at from both sides.. one as the extended hallway and one side from the living room.
If/when I buy my next house.. I will be looking at what I can do with tanks.. and have the area I am going to put them surrounded with blue masking tape so when they are moved into place all I have to do remove the masking tape (ie make sure the tank can fit behind the masking tape, not making the tanks sit on the masking tape.) Â This way I can get all the furniture moved in first.. and move the tanks last.. Â after the dust has settled from the furniture move.
So EK... Â where are you thinking about moving to ? Â Katy is a good option.. the westpark tollroad takes you to 59 quick and painless.. When you go to a restaurant in Katy the first thing they ask is "smoking or non" -- Schools are top notch when mini-ek's arrive. Â I have seldom power failures out here. Â So far I think only 3 or 4 in the last 2yrs.. lasting no more than an hour at most. Â There is a strong Asian community out here too... Â They are gun friendly in Katy. Â Crime is low in this area.. Â at least where I live I yet to hear anything bad happen. Â I love Katy !! Â Now I live SOUTH of I-10 which for me is vastly different than living north of I-10.. To me living south of I-10 was a requirement when I went looking for a house.

Well I plan to make a few dollys for the move so that won't be much of a problem.
As for where I am either looking somewhere near/around mid-town but if not a bit more North/Northwest. I need something with a 2+ car garage for my little room and power outages will not be a problem since I plan to get a automatic transfer switch generator for the house since any true fish room will have all basis covered.
Moving sand/gravel is faster then breaking down several tanks completely. I really don't think Ek would be moving doing the move alone. Plus, when you disturb a sand bed you  risk killing off bacteria that have accumulated in the sandbed which help with cycling.
