  • 10g planted series

After looking through the Tikashi Amano book I got Spyke for Christmas, I was inspired to do a planted 10g. So far so good. This is what I have so far:

    flora::
    ricchia
    baby tears
    Vals
Glossotigma (Dan at HAW has a BUNCH of this, and he has the rare dwarf glossotigma, too!)
(and I'm not sure what the pink plant is in the middle)

    fauna:
    5 Emerald Rasboras (wild caught)
    2 Zebra Loaches
    2 Rainbow Gungeons
    3 Nerites

    Substrate:
Aqua Soil mixed with a little Flora Base

I started a DIY Co2 system tonight with jello and yeast- it should be ready to go tomorrow and I think it should make a big difference in the plants.

I still need a better light and a smaller heater (see the big one leaning in the back). Oh, there always SOMETHING I need for my tanks- LOL.

Does jello work better than sugar water?

you should paint the bg black or something it will help hide the tubes, outtake/intake from the 501 better...

Right now it just has some fabric along the back- and that might change. Right now I'm looking for a smaller heater, clear suction cups, and a glass intake. So, once I get all that it may change the look enough where I won't need to paint it black.... It's always a process :)

Looks promising... should look good once the glosso and riccia grow together.

ek- good eye (as always). I didn't know how to spell the "gloss---" so I left it out of my list of plants :)

I love that plant, it looks great as a ground cover and when it gets tall I'll just take the top and push it back into the dirt....

The glosso is looking "leggy", which usually points to insufficient light. It should hug the substrate ideally, and spread horizontally over the substrate.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

Man, from the looks of it the tank was newly planted.... normally when you buy glosso it's leggy like that.

Did you get your glosso in a pot?

Nope, he just pulled it out of the substrate and put it in a bag for me. When I got home, I separated it into smaller pieces and planted them individially with long tweezers.
