          If the pellets are too small, then I wouldn't think a gar would eat it. Just get something big. I've caught gars on tennis ball homemade lures.

            I have a 15" Spotted Gar who eats frozen shrimp and Hikari floating carnisticks. He's a friggin BEAST!!!! Starve em til he gets the hint, worked for me

              Not to be a debbie downer, but also keep in mind that Gars can get much bigger than 12" so you need to plan on for its housing.
