      From Weather Underground website...

A strong and slow moving upper level trough of low pressure
coupled with abundant moisture and favorable upper level winds
produced tremendous rainfall rates and rainfall totals over
southeast Texas. The two day total exceeded 14 inches in a few
spots. Clover Field in Pearland reported 1.33 inches of rain in
just 12 minutes. Houston hobby Airport received a record 5.15
inches of rain on Saturday April 18th. The Airport received 0.96
inches of rain in 10 minutes... 1.48 inches of rain in 16 minutes
and 2.52 inches in just 35 minutes. This was the fourth wettest
day in April for hobby Airport. The greatest daily rainfall in
April occurred on April 27th 1972 (6.20 inches)... 5.38 inches on
      April 8th 2002 and 5.18 inches on April 14th 1966.

The Harris County flood control gage at Bay area Boulevard and
Clear Creek indicated that an incredible 6.26 inches of rain fell
in one hour... 8.06 inches of rain fell in 90 minutes and 9.92
inches of rain accumulated in 24 hours. Another gage at Clear
Creek and FM 528 showed an 6.02 inches of rain in one hour. These
hourly rainfall rates are comparable to the rainfall rates that
      occurred with Tropical Storm Allison.
