This looks good! I love Hayao Miyazaki's movies. I can't wait! I'm going to go see it on Sunday with my dad.

From the previews and what little plot summary I peeked at, it's about a Goldfish-girl-thing called Ponyo that lives in the sea (?!?) and longs to be human. It looks so cute!

Miyazaki is genius. His movies always have great themes and yet they are whimsical and wonderful. The first movie of his that I watched was My Neighbor Totoro when I was a kid. If you haven't seen this movie, go rent it! It's got fuzzy bear-like creatures that only kids can see in it!

His other movies I've seen are Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and Kiki's Delivery Service. And I want to go rent the rest of them someday.

Anyways, thought I would share. I'm so excited and I know it will be great!

I went to see the movie today. I really liked it. It had whimsy. It was silly (it is a kid's movie) and fun. And it was really well done. Signature Miyazaki artistry. Though, I have to say that I almost burst out laughing during the credits song. I prefer the "Totoro song".

The one downside: Now ignorant (the true meaning of the word) kids will not only think they can keep goldfish in bowls but also green buckets. :icon_hang:

It will be just like after Finding Nemo except they won't be asking for a "Nemo" they'll be asking for a "Ponyo". I have pity for any fish store on the receiving end of this.

Princess Mononoke was my first exposure to his films, and that is a great flick. If you don't mind reading subtitles his older flicks I am really a fan of. Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind, and Porco Rosso are great films, I recommend them all. I love the element of flight in those films, watching them makes me feel like I am flying.
Grave of the Fireflies is a great film but I could only stand the heartbreak of that film once and could never watch it again. That film will simply destroy you.

I know I need to rent those three movies! As for Grave of the Fireflies I saw it once illegally online once. Someone posted it on YouTube. OMG is that movie sad and depressing. Your right I don't think I could stand watching it again.
