If I didn't have Xander (my most awesome feline companion), I would definitely have a grey. I fell in love with them when I worked at a pet store in my teens. I still think fondly of the grey we had up there for a while. My heart broke when he was sold.

Here's a couple pics of His Screaminess, Prometheus:

I used to have dozens of pics of him but lost them all when my comp. crashed. Thanks to Traci and Charles that won't happen again.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

                  Beautiful pics Mark!

Those prices are subjective depending on where you get your bird. Personally, I am highly against hybrids in the macaw or any other parrot family. Blue and Golds, Greenwings, blue-throated, scarlet and military macaws are gorgeous just as is. I personally would love to have a hyacinth, but don't have a spare 5k.

i did not breed the parents, however, i will breed 2 hybrids together....it is a subjective point of view.

                      It's not subjective, it's a conservation issue.

who's conservation? we will have to agree to disagree on this!

keep in mind, that I do not cross 2 pure birds, however, people do, and if the opportunity arises that I will get 2 hybrids, to put together, I will, as they do not need to be in the hands of someone who would breed to a true bird.....

actually the Eclectus are wayy worse than the macaws, it is practially impossible to find clean Biaki, Vos Maeri, and Red Sided lines.......

it is going to be done, no matter what anyone says, the only hope we have is to get the hybrids and breed them together, or the people who buy the birds, keep them, and not trade them off for anything.

The fact still remains that there are people out there who cross the pure birds for money still....and there is nothing you can say to them. I agree completely that Green Winged, Scarlet, Blue and Golds, Red Fronts are all striking birds on their own!!!!

Conservation of parrots, not just macaws, but in this case the example is macaws. I'm not opposed to purebred parrots being bred. I think it's good for conservation, but hybrids are not good for conservation whether it be macaws or ekkies.

Saying it's going to be done regardless is not a good reason for doing it. Someone has to make a stand. I'm a conservationist, but not a fanatic. Everyone has to make their own decisions, but people need to educate themselves on the issues.

who cares as long as the breeders/owners are happy? after all you do what you want with your time/money isn't it? its like fighting which restaurant is better...
