The time has come to turn the dream into Reality. CAK, or, Catfish And Kool Pleco's are now officially opening their doors to the public. This is an open invitation for people who want to get serious about their love for CAK.

Our Mission Statement:
CAK's Mission is to spark devotion and compassion for plecostomusʼ and catfish through public awareness and education, eliminate stigma and serve as a resource to those touched by these commonly neglected heroes.



So I ask you, friends, nay my brothers and sisters.. Who is with us? Who wants to be a part of what will be Houstons Premier Fish Society? Who wants to be a part of something bigger than themselves? Who is willing to cross that like and profess their love for CAK?

PS- we should be official with all the paper-work and whatnot...mid-next week.

Since we probably can't advocate for CAK on fishbox officially yet, please consider this somewhat as a gauge....we need to make sure that we will have ample participation.

I am seeing some of the same questions pop up through pms, with that in mind I would like to say.

For now, there are no membership dues, as this is an entirely non-profit orginization. We are here because we love Catfish and Plecos and wish to share our love for these oft neglected species with anyone else who feels the same.

Membership is open to anyone.

You do not need to own a Pleco or Catfish to be a member, you just have to love them.

I'm really excited about the number of you who have responded via PM.  
We're working really hard on the website, david is getting things together as fast as he can.
We have to get some permits and whatnot later this week, but we are really excited to get this CAK up and running.

I am currently looking for yet another tank...maybe a shallow  one. If we all put our heads together...and research and whatnot.

i know you don't have to have a pleco to be a member, you just have to love them, what about people who hate them or think they are ugly disgusting things?  can they join too?

OK, my curiousity has got the best of me.  Is this for real?

With all the jokes, funny comments and whatnot its hard to take this seriously if it is for real.
